About The Doctor

Annette Swain, Ph.D., ABPP is a board-certified clinical psychologist and neuropsychologist. Dr. Swain completed her initial psychological training at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and received her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the University of Iowa in 1998.

Dr. Swain completed her neuropsychology training at the prestigious Benton Neuropsychology Laboratory at the University of Iowa.  She then completed her pre-doctoral internship in geropsychology and a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic assessment at UCLA. She has lectured widely on the topics of neuropsychological assessment, and cognitive changes with aging.

Dr. Swain has since served as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychology at UCLA. Dr. Swain has also been in private practice for 15 years and has two offices in Encino and Burbank.

Dr. Swain has also been a Qualified Medical Examiner for the state of California for nearly 10 years and has served as the chief neuropsychologist at a specialized geriatric assessment clinic since 2000. She currently specializes in the neuropsychological assessment of neurological, general medical, and psychiatric conditions.

With subspecialties in geriatric, adult, and adolescent neuropsychology, Dr. Swain can provide care to seniors, adults, and teens. She can assist in the diagnosis of various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, fronto-temporal dementias, diffuse Lewy body disease, and others.

Dr. Swain can assist in the evaluation and treatment of ADHD, learning disorders, traumatic brain injury, and memory disorders, and can provide assessments of cognitive functioning for persons with neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and stroke.  She also provides specialized evaluations of decision-making capacity, driving capacity, and fiduciary capacity.
